Community Guidelines

YarnWiz Community is for knitters, crocheters, spinners, and other fiber makers. These guidelines apply to posts, comments, profiles, direct messages, and knit nights.

By joining the Community you agree to follow these guidelines and our Terms of Service. You must be at least 18 years old to use YarnWiz Community. Breaking these guidelines can get your content removed and your account suspended or permanently removed.

The short version

Be kind. Stay on topic. Post your own work. Don't sell things you shouldn't. Treat other makers the way you'd want to be treated.

What belongs here

Works in progress, finished objects, and the inevitable frogging
Questions about color, fit, technique, patterns, and yarn
Encouragement, advice, and helpful feedback
Knit nights and stitch-alongs you're hosting or attending

Zero tolerance

There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behavior. The following will be removed, and repeat or serious violations will end your account:

Hate speech and slurs: attacks or demeaning content based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, or immigration status
Harassment and bullying: targeting, threatening, intimidating, or piling onto another person; encouraging others to do so
Threats and violence: threats of harm, incitement, or celebrating violence
Sexual content: nudity, sexually explicit content, or sexual content involving minors (which we also report to the authorities)
Illegal content: anything unlawful, or content that promotes illegal activity
Spam and scams: repetitive posting, bulk advertising, phishing, or deceptive links
Impersonation: pretending to be another person, maker, or brand
Doxxing: sharing someone's private information without their consent
Stolen work: posting someone else's pattern, photo, or design as your own, or sharing paid patterns without permission

Selling and self-promotion

Community is not a marketplace. Any sort of self-promotion is not allowed here.

Your content

You keep ownership of what you post. By posting, you give YarnWiz permission to display and distribute your content within the app and its features, as described in our Terms. You're responsible for having the rights to everything you post.

Reporting and enforcement

Every post, comment, profile, knit night, and direct message has a Report option. Reports go to a person on our team, who reviews them by hand, usually within a day or two, and faster for anything serious. You can also block anyone; they won't be able to see your posts, follow you, or message you, and they aren't notified.

We may remove content, limit an account, or remove an account at our discretion when these guidelines are broken. We don't pre-screen everything, and following these rules doesn't guarantee your content stays up.
